Open Letter to the 118th Congress: Thank You for Fighting for PBM Reform

--

To the Members of Congress Who Fought for PBM Reform Legislation,

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did on behalf of our patients and our pharmacies.

Thank you for taking our calls, reading our emails, considering our requests for support and sponsorship, and in many cases, choosing to support our cause. (But even if you didn’t support our cause, thank you for at least considering it).

Thank you for visiting our pharmacies and meeting with our patients and our staff members.

Thank you for taking the time to work through the outright lies, propaganda and multi-million dollar promotional campaigns of the PBM opposition and their Fortune 10 insurer parent corporations. Additionally, thank you for taking the time to meet with opposition lobbyists, lawyers, and C-suite executives so that you could see and hear for yourself what they have to say for how they’ve handled the hundreds of billions of dollars consumers and payers have entrusted them with to pay (or in many cases, delay to pay) for treatment and medications.

Thank you for challenging your Congressional colleagues who failed to see what you see, what we see, and what tens of millions of Americans see every day: that publicly-traded, vertically integrated mega corporations have demonstrated they can’t be trusted to provide the care they promised the public, that their first allegiance is to shareholders and their own profit motives.

While we are disappointed by the spectacular implosion of the CR this week — and we know you are too — we remain every bit as committed to seeing the fight for meaningful PBM reform through to the end. We will not be stopped, and we look forward to working with you again in 2025.
